ext-align: justify;”>Strikeforce has assembled eight of the world’s top ranked heavyweights to compete in the STRIKEFORCE World Grand Prix – Heavyweight Tournament, a three-stage, single-elimination tournament that will take place over several events in 2011. The first two quarterfinal fights begin on Saturday, Feb. 12, live on Showtime from the IZOD Center in E. Rutherford, N.J.

The highly-anticipated return of the all-time greatest No. 1 pound for pound fighter in the world, the legendary Fedor “The Last Emperor” 34-year-old Fedor Emelianenko (31-2), who will face off with streaking 6 foot 4, 265 pound Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu black belt, Antonio “Big Foot” Silva (15-2), in the main event and a fight between former UFC champions Andrei Arlovski (15-8) will face Sergei Kharitonov (17-4).

The fights involving Arlovski, Emelianenko, Kharitonov and Silva are part of the first round of the Strikeforce World Grand Prix heavyweight tournament. The winner of this tourney will hold a belt separate from the Strikeforce heavyweight championship.

Fedor has not stepped into the cage in over six months, some say largely due to his management’s unyielding determination to enhance “The Last Emperor”‘s legacy.

Mean While, “Bigfoot” Antonio Silva is fresh off a second round TKO win over world class kickboxer “MAK” Mike Kyle (14-8-1) at Strikeforce: Henderson vs. Babalu II earlier this month.

In tournament reserve bouts, up-and-coming division prospects Shane Del Rosario and Lavar Johnson will sling leather while Valentijn Overeem makes his Strikeforce debut against the striking prowess of Ray Sefo.
