Strikeforce: HP Pavilion

Strikeforce HP Pavilion at San Jose, CA June 26, 2010

Strikeforce will put on their second major event in June when they co-promote with M-1 Global on June 26, 2010 for another Showtime televised event in San Jose, California. The historic card will feature the top men’s heavyweight and pound-for-pound great, Fedor “The Last Emperor” Emelianenko (31-1), and STRIKEFORCE Women’s World Middleweight Champion Cris Cyborg (9-1).

Fedor Emelianenko brings an astounding 27-fight win streak to the cage. “The Last Emperor” has long been considered the top heavyweight in MMA, though critics point to a lack of quality opponents in recent bouts as a reason he should not be considered one of the world’s pound-for-pound best fighters. Nevertheless, Emelianenko’s lone career loss came after an illegal elbow and a controversial ruling. Emelianenko has also finished his opponent in 24 of his 31 career wins.

Meanwhile, Brazilian submission ace Fabricio Werdum (13-4-1 MMA, 2-0 SF) is a four-time UFC veteran who also fought six times under the PRIDE banner. The former Brazilian jiu-jitsu world champion has a perfect 2-0 mark under the Strikeforce banner following a decision win over Antonio Silva and submission victory over Mike Kyle.
