It should be a memorable night at UFC 100 on July 1

1, 2009 in Las Vegas with two of the organization’s most coveted titles on the line along with an Ultimate Fighter grudge match and several other good matches.

UFC welterweight Georges St. Pierre will make his third title defense against American Top Team’s Thiago

Alves. Bet UFC 100 Today

The night will get even better with, heavyweight champion Brock Lesnar and interim champion Frank Mir will meet in a title unification rematch and “The Ultimate Fighter 9” coaches Dan Henderson and Michael Bisping will clash in a middleweight matchup in the third billing on the UFC 100 fight card.

Bisping was an early selection to coach Team U.K. on the show, which is the first season to use a country-vs.-country format. Henderson won the Team U.S. slot by beating Rich Franklin in January.

Georges St. Pierre vs. Thiago Alves

St. Pierre (18-2) defeated UFC lightweight champion B.J. Penn in their Jan. 31 rematch at UFC 94, stopping the vaunted Hawaiian between the fourth and fifth rounds.

Thiago Alves (16-3), who is coming off wins against Matt Hughes and Josh Koscheck. Alves has been an absolute monster of late, finishing top-ranked opponents Matt Hughes and Karo Parisyan, as well as

outpointing Josh Koscheck on all three judges scorecards, in his three most recent performances.

He has been on a two-year tear, with five of his last seven wins ending by way of (technical) knockout. Alves, in fact, has not lost since 2006, which was against another top fighter in the division, Jon Fitch.

Brock Lesnar vs. interim champ Frank Mir

Mir, a Brazilian jiu-jitsu black belt, stopped former Pride champion Antonio Rodrigo Nogueira with strikes in the second round at UFC 92 in December to earn the interim gold. Mir submitted Lesnar with a kneebar in 90 seconds during their first encounter at UFC 81 in February 2008.

Brock Lesnar (3-1) toppled former champion Randy Couture with a second-round technical knockout at UFC 91 last November to seize the title in only his fourth career bout.

Heavyweights Lesnar and Mir were originally scheduled to face off at UFC 98 on May 23 in Las Vegas, but Mir withdrew from the bout to recover from knee surgery.

Despite lacking anything resembling a good jiu-jitsu game, Lesnar is still a -275 to +190 favorite over Mir, who is one of the best submission fighters in the UFC regardless of division.

Casual fans betting on Lesnar no doubt have had an impact on the line, but there is also a school of thought that Lesnar will be much more prepared to at least avoid being submitted by Mir on the ground this time around if the fight goes there, unlike their first meeting when Mir slapped a leg lock on Lesnar after being knocked around early in the fight.

Rap-rock and nu-metal band Limp Bizkit will add a little more history to the UFC 100 extravaganza when the multi-platinum-selling group makes its first North American concert in eight years as a part of the UFC 100 weekend.
