Franklin has been out of action since September, when he was TKO’d by Vitor Belfort in a catch weight bout. Liddell has also been out of the cage for some time, his last bout was in April 2009. He is also coming off of a loss, a knockout by Mauricio “Shogun” Rua.
Former PRIDE star Mirko Cro Cop also features on the card, looking to build on his win over Anthony Perosh at UFC 110 when he takes a fighter who also has a reputation for fearsome leg-kicks, Pat Barry. Filipovic has put together an even 3-3 record in six fights with the UFC, with other Octagon wins coming over Eddie Sanchez and Mostapha Al-Turk, while suffering his other UFC losses against Gabriel Gonzaga and Cheick Kongo.
Barry (5-1) is coming off of a very impressive second-round TKO win over Antoni Hardonk at UFC 104 in October. The fight with Hardonk earned Barry two fight night bonuses totaling a staggering $120,000 in extra pay. Barry, along with his opponent, Hardonk, each took home $60,000, as they were awarded “Fight of the Night” for their exciting heavyweight battle. Barry pocketed another $60,000 for earning the “Knockout of the Night” bonus.
