much more exciting when there is money riding on the
outcome. Today is no different, as a growing number

Chuck Liddell (-260) vs. Quinton Jackson (+200)
Octagon veteran Din Thomas (19-6) will clash with UFC
newcomer Jeremy Stephens (8-1) at UFC 71 on May 26 in Las
Vegas, MGM, Nevada.
Since appearing on season four of The Ultimate Fighter (TUF)
as a welterweight, Thomas has dropped down to 155 pounds and
rattled off two consecutive wins.
Din Thomas, most recent victory over Clay Guida at UFC Fight
Night 8 in January was an action-packed 15-minute brawl that
demonstrated the toughness of the American Top Team (ATT)
product.
Jeremy Stephens is a young fighter from the Midwest who
likes to bang, racking up six T(KO)s in his brief mixed
martial arts career. He's performed well in smaller shows,
and apparently the UFC thinks he's now ready for the big
stage. The match up will most likely not make the
pay-per-view (PPV) broadcast.

The Ultimate Fighting
Championship is a test of pure gladiator fighting
skills. The fight occurs inside an octagon that is 32
feet across. The fighters are contained by a 5 foot
link fence. Most participants have martial arts
training in some discipline, however, this is by no
means a requirement. It has a no holds barred
philosophy although some rules have been added
recently.
Although there can be a
lot of blood, fights usually end with joint locks or
choke holds and it is generally the more skilled
opponent that wins. Size is an advantage, but skill in
ending the fights with a finishing move (choke out,
joint locks, etc.) are the best. |
