have enjoyed the thrill of betting on combative
sporting contests. Every moment of a fight seems
much more exciting when there is money riding on the
outcome. Today is no different, as a growing number

Evans is itching to get back in the cage after fighting to a
draw with Ortiz at UFC 73: “Stacked” on July 7. He, too, was
supposed to rematch Ortiz right away but things behind the
scenes clearly
did not go as planned.
Houston Alexander vs. Thiago Silva
Houson Alexander, the current UFC knock out king will certainly
want to keep his win streak alive with a quick defeat of Thiago
Silva, becasue the winner of this bout would likely be given a
title shot against UFC light heavyweight champion Quinton
Rampage Jackson early next spring.
Silva is 11-0 and considered one of the most promising young
light heavyweights in the division. Meanwhile, despite being 35,
Alexander is viewed by many as a breakout star coming off the
heels of two devastating first round TKOs in his first two UFC
fights.

The Ultimate Fighting
Championship is a test of pure gladiator fighting
skills. The fight occurs inside an octagon that is 32
feet across. The fighters are contained by a 5 foot
link fence. Most participants have martial arts
training in some discipline, however, this is by no
means a requirement. It has a no holds barred
philosophy although some rules have been added
recently.
Although there can be a
lot of blood, fights usually end with joint locks or
choke holds and it is generally the more skilled
opponent that wins. Size is an advantage, but skill in
ending the fights with a finishing move (choke out,
joint locks, etc.) are the best. |
